COREDUMP - Garnet Hertz
Technical Description
* The COREDUMP project is a web-enabled physically actuating
multi-user installation built by Garnet Hertz.
* ACTUATOR PROTOTYPE 1 is built from robot-based surplus DC motors
with gear-down mechanisms, aluminum tubing, and small rubber casters. The
markmaking mechanism has not been attached to this prototype (May
1/2000).
* A proprietary control system and protocol has been built with an
Intel 8bit uController chip. However, after some experimentation, the
control system will likely be run through a web-driven X10 protocol. This
will allow for greater flexibility in the installation and more rapid,
spontaneous development of the system.
