Icon (1994) - Garnet Hertz

This project is a 4x8 ft lightbox that was produced from an image taken at a 3-minute b/w photo booth. The image was enlarged and processed through several generations of xeroxes. The final image was then photocopied directly onto acetate film, projected with an overhead projector onto a 4x8 sheet of plexiglass covered with opaque adhesive, then the image was hand-cut into the adhesive film. The lightbox was constructed with four ballasts and eight four-foot fluorescent tubes, and was about 8 inches deep.
